St. Matthew's Ramblers

             Walk Page
  Last Walk. Eyam, Derbyshire.
A very good day was enjoyed by all the members on the club walk centered on this famous "plague" village, which has its own place in history when the bubonic plague was brought into the village on infected fleas in a bale of cloth ordered by the village tailor from London, where the plague was raging. The villagers, at the behest of their vicar made the brave decison to quarantine themselves in the village to contain the disease and in doing so two thirds of them died.
